Sheila Stevens

Sheila Asaad Stevens, 28, went to be with Jesus face-to-face in a peaceful transfer while in her Austin, Texas home on Tuesday, September 20, 2011. She fought bravely and suffered well through a battle with ovarian cancer. To the end of her time on earth, she clung firmly to her faith and demonstrated peace against all odds.

Sheila was born on December 9, 1982 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Mo and Joan Asaad. Sheila was one of two children. On June 7, 2008, she married Rick Stevens, her adored husband.

Sheila completed her undergraduate work and obtained Texas state board certification as a registered nurse. She worked caring for others as a nurse at South Austin Hospital. More importantly, Sheila was a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ not only by her words but by her example. Her sweet and calm spirit brought an atmosphere of grace and mercy into any situation and exuded the love of Christ.

She enjoyed playing the drums in worship bands, hanging out with friends, and late nights. She also enjoyed nature; taking photographs and listening to others pour their hearts out to her, a committed confidant. She kept up with Facebook like nobody’s business and her smile was electric. Truthfully, she was full of zest for life.

She was a cherished wife, beloved daughter, and admired big sister. She is survived by her husband, Rick Stevens; father, Mo Asaad; mother, Joan Asaad; and brother, Erhart Asaad. Sheila is further survived by the legacy she leaves in the hearts of those who had the blessing of coming into contact with her. Her life was nothing less than a work of art.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2011 in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home with Reverend Anthony Scoma of SW Family Fellowship officiating. Interment will be private.
