Born with a heart full of compassion and a spirit of unwavering dedication, Shelagh spent her entire career serving the state of Texas, where she made a lasting impact through her work and commitment to public service.
Shelagh's love for life was evident in her many passions. She had a deep passion for quilting and created many beautiful quilts that were treasured by friends and family alike. Her quilts, crafted with love and meticulous attention to detail, are lasting symbols of her creativity and generosity. She also had a great love for dogs, finding immense joy and companionship in her beloved Sam and Taylor.
In addition to quilting and her dogs, Shelagh had a particular fondness for watching football, a pastime she enjoyed deeply throughout her life. She took great pride and joy in watching her son play football in high school and college, cheering him on from the stands. She also loved watching football with her husband, Kenneth Chapman, sharing countless memorable moments together during the football season.
Tragically, Kenneth Chapman passed away on the same day, a testament to their deep bond and love for each other. Their love story, filled with shared joys and mutual support, will be remembered by all who knew them.
Shelagh is survived by her cherished sister, Nelva McPhail, who shared in countless memories and adventures; her beloved son, James Yukawa; and her two treasured grandchildren, Jasper and Jacob Yukawa, who brought immense joy and pride into her life.
Shelagh's warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She and Kenneth will be deeply missed but forever held in the hearts of those they touched.
A private service will be held to honor Shelagh's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in her memory.
