Sherri Erskine Kelly, 56, of Pflugerville, Texas, left us too soon on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on August 6, 1958 in Waco, Texas, to Donald Armhid Erskine and Edna Ruth Erskine.
Sherri graduated from Del Valle High School in Austin and Texas State University in San Marcos with a Bachelor's of Science in Microbiology. She went on to work for the Seton Healthcare Family for over thirty years, where she was responsible for managing more than thirty labs across Austin. Sherri was a long time member of Hyde Park Baptist Church.
Sherri's family and friends knew her as a loving Christian woman who brought joy and laughter to everyone she encountered. Sherri loved spending time in the outdoors, walking her dogs Molly and Max around Town Lake, playing tennis, hiking, kayaking, and taking long trips to the beach with family and friends. She loved to dance, to eat Mexican food, to play games, to read, to laugh, and to spend time with the people she loved. Sherri loved her three children, Jennifer, Lauren, and Billy, with all of her heart, and they lovingly remember her as the best mother any son or daughter could ever have asked for. Sherri's final days were filled with joy as she visited and laughed with so many of her dear friends and family members. She will be missed tremendously.
Sherri was preceded in death by her mother, Edna Ruth Erskine, and her sister, Lisa Kay Erskine. She is survived by her father, Donald Armhid Erskine of Kingsland; her children, Jennifer Zurovec and husband Wesley, Lauren Kelly, and Will Kelly; her sisters, Donna Allen and husband Randy and Patricia Jackson and husband Bo; her nieces, Melissa Smith and husband Chris and Allison Jackson; and her nephews, Brian Allen, Brett Jackson, and Justin Jackson; all of Austin.
The family is grateful for our many friends who provided support and prayers during Sherri's battle with breast cancer.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar Boulevard.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 15, at Hyde Park Baptist Church, 3901 Speedway, with interment following at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive.
