Shirley “Babe” Hueneke Harvey, 96, died Saturday, December 14, 2024 at

Westminster Manor in Austin, Texas.

She was born November 8, 1928, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Mabel

Elizabeth Felderman Hueneke. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and

minors in PE and English from the University of Dubuque. On June 18, 1955, she was united

in marriage to James Ray Harvey at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Dubuque. He died

October 5, 1997. She was a homemaker and also taught in the Dubuque and Cedar Falls

School Districts. She was an active member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, a

member of PEO of Waterloo, the Red Hat Society, Flower Clubs and played in several bridge

clubs.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Sally) Harvey of Kiawah Island, SC; daughter, Jane

Harvey of Austin, TX; five grandchildren; James and Ben Harvey, both of Austin, TX; Lauren

Marie (Sagar) Desai of Miami, FL; Caroline (Kyle) Lewis of Summerville, SC; Mason Harvey of

Dallas, TX; and three great-grandchildren; Hadley Grace Lewis; Jaanavi and Amaya Desai.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James; son, Mark James Harvey; and sister,

Gladys Adel Hueneke.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30AM December, 21, 2024 at Nazareth Lutheran

Church. Viewing will be held at the church before the service starting at 9:30AM with a lunch

served immediately following the funeral service. Interment will be that afternoon at St. John’s

Lutheran Cemetery, St. Donatus, IA.

Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday,

December, 20, 2024 at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls.
