

Shirley Jean Moore Henzen peacefully departed this life on Friday, August 12, 2005. She was born July 3, 1938 in Austin, Texas. Surviving family who loved her dearly are her husband, Jerome (Jerry) Henzen; son, Christopher Henzen; brother, Douglas Moore and wife Marie; sister, Barbara Castleberry and husband Danny; sisters-in-law Maurine Moore, Gail Moore, and Beverly Moore; brother-in-law Dale Bassett; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley cherished all of her family and especially treasured time spent with her son Chris. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Rena Moore; sisters, Anna Bell Butler, Dorothy Polvado, Charlene Borders, Adlene Moore, Catherine Bassett; and brothers, Bill Moore, Leo Moore, Jr., and Ira Donald Moore. Shirley began her 36-year career with Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator and advanced to the position of switching equipment technician. Her systems expertise was relied upon by management and co-workers until her retirement in 1992. During their 48 years of marriage, Shirley and Jerry spent many happy hours together traveling the back roads of Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. She was a gifted quilter and took pleasure in traveling to quilt shows with special friends. Shirley was also a voracious reader and an avid worker of crossword puzzles. Her direct manner and quick wit is fondly remembered; brain cancer never took away her ability to laugh. Shirley, a devout Catholic, was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church until they moved to Dripping Springs in 1999 where she attended St. Martin de Porras. She also shared her many talents through helping with fund raisers at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockne, Texas. During their travels, Shirley and Jerry visited many Catholic churches and church festivals. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 16, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, entombment will be held at Assumption Mausoleum. Honoring their Aunt Shirley as pallbearers will be: Phillip Butler, Donny Moore, Patrick Moore, Jordan Moore, and Michael Polvado, also joined by Edward Pehl, Jerrys uncle. Jerry is thankful to Dr. Peggy Russell, nurses and staff at Stonebridge Health Center for making Shirleys last 15 months so comfortable. The loving attention and care they bestowed upon her is gratefully acknowledged. Appreciation is also expressed to Odyssey Hospice.
