

Born Shirley Alice Mueller in St. Louis, Missouri on October 27, 1932, her family moved to Austin where she graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1950. Shirley attended Incarnate Word in San Antonio, but later transfered to and graduated from the Seton Nursing School in 1954. At that time the nurses took their science and religion classes at St. Edwards, busing over twice a week to attend with the young men. Shirley spent 6 months in New Orleans with the school nursing children at Charity Hospital, and working with psychiatric patients at Paul Hospital.. She moved back to Austin where she married the love of her life, Newton LeBlanc, on September 7, 1957. She worked as an O.R. nurse at Seton Hospital until she left to care for her growing family. She continued to volunteer at Seton and various nursing homes around Austin. She returned to Seton when her children were grown and worked for the Capital Anesthesiology Association until she retired. She was a founding member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and has been an active member since its dedication in 1952. She served on the Parish Council and School Board and as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharistic.
Mrs. LeBlanc is survived by her husband, Newton LeBlanc of Austin; daughter and son-in-law Marie and Walter Knapp of Del Valle; son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Dolores LeBlanc of Abilene; son René LeBlanc of Cedar Park; son and daughter-in-law Jerome and Dona LeBlanc of Austin; 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jonathan Knapp, Joseph LeBlanc, Jr., Vincent LeBlanc, Anthony LeBlanc, Adam LeBlanc, John LeBlanc, Matthew LeBlanc, and Benjamin LeBlanc.
A rosary will be said at 7:00 PM, with viewing at 6 PM, on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78752. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, TX 78757 with Father James Misko presiding.
