Shirley Polk Shirley Polk of Elgin, Texas died May 25, 2005, at the age of 69 after a 12 year battle with Alzheimers disease. Shirley was born to Dreborn Desmond Dudley and Annie Mae Faber Dudley on December 21, 1935 in Jacksonville, Texas. Mom was a bright and independent spirit, who could make an adventure out of everything. She was devoted to her husband of 50 years, Herman Albert Polk (H.A.) until his passing on July 10, 2004. Mom loved God, her husband, children, grandchildren and her three sisters. She loved to travel with H.A. and her sisters and their husbands. We will miss her very much, but we are glad she will join our Dad, both of them with whole, healthy bodies in heaven. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Belva Green and husband Horace of Lexington, Putt OBrien and husband Andy of Lexington; son, Clifford Polk of Elgin; grandchildren, Colby and Chelsea Green both of Houston, Texas, and Drew and Wesley OBrien both of Lexington, Texas; sisters, Margaret Burchard and her husband Charles of Elgin, Texas, Audrey Boutwell and husband Morris of Elgin, Texas, Donna Lewis and husband Penny of Manchaca, Texas. We would like to thank Matilde Escobedo for all her years of love and care of our mom. We would also like to thank Delia Cox, Renee Conway, Mike Birran, Glenda McCoy and all the countless other people who cared for her and did things we did not know about in her benefit. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Hospice Austin for their unbelievable kindness and service. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimers Association or Hospice Austin. Serving as pallbearers will be Colby Green, Drew OBrien, Wesley OBrien, Mike Birrans, James Lewis and Stanley Ging.
