At a young age, Shirley embraced and confessed her faith in Christ. She was baptized as a child and, in recent years, she renewed her commitment to Jesus Christ. Though she was born in Seguin, Shirley spent most of her years in Austin, Texas. She attended Blackshear Elementary, Kealing Junior High, and graduated from L.C. Anderson High School, always and forever cherishing her identity as a PROUD Yellow Jacket.
Shirley was known for her love of shopping, dining out, and, as some would say, she enjoyed visits to the casino. She found joy and excitement in these pastimes, creating cherished memories with her family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Ora Mae Kennard; her father, Lloyd Sutton, Sr.; her stepfather, Anthony A. Kennard; and her sister, Dorothy W. Greene.
Shirley is lovingly remembered by her brothers, Lawrence Sutton, Lloyd Sutton, Jr., Samuel Sutton, and Daniel Sutton; her sister, Carrie Sutton Sanders; her nieces, R. Denise Greene-Bryant and Lori G. Govan; her nephews, Charles Nelson III and Stefan L. Greene; as well as extended family, Wendy Albrecht and Brigid Cockran.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
