Shirlyn Marshall-Rice

On April 25, 1957 Shirlyn Marshall was born to the loving parents of Josephine & Langster Marshall in Fort Worth, TX. She attended Fort Worth Independent Schools and graduated from Eastern Hills High School in 1975.

In 1980 she joined the United States Army with duty stations in Columbia, SC as well as Fort Benning, GA. She met the love of her life Floyd Rice and they later joined in Holy Matrimony. Together, they raised their child, Scherrie Jones. Shirlyn later received her certificate in Mental Healthcare from McLennan Community College in Waco, TX.

She lived a life dedicated to the Lord and her family. She brought joy and laughter to those that she knew and never met a stranger. On July 8, 2013 in Cedar Park, TX, the Lord called Shirlyn home. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Josephine & Langster Marshall, her husband Floyd Rice as well as her brothers Elroy Hall, Michael Walker, Herbert Hall, Herman Hall, Roosevelt Smith & James Rice. She is survived by her one and only daughter, Scherrie Jones her darling grandchildren Britany, Catye, Benjamin and Brianna Williams & very special God Grandchildren Jaleun & Chyna Foster, Aacen & Montaye Anderson , Daylon, Daysha & Dayton Berry, Marshae, Crystal & Treyuna Waters. Special God daughters Tiffany Anderson, Angela Foster, Shandria

Waters, Alexis Forman, Desserae & Shymyra Stephen and Terrie Berry, The Brinkley girls, Teetta McDowell, godson Jeff Berry & Lakeith Anderson. Two special nieces Andrea Rhodes & Adriean Rice Sisters: Joyce King, Della Smith, Lillie Russell, Paula Burns and Phyllis White. Brothers: Willie J. Harris, George Walker (Belinda), Lewis Rice and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 22nd of July 2013, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
