Simon Castillo

Simon was born in Lockhart, Texas where he grew up on a ranch and raised animals. He married his beloved wife, Augustina Castillo, and built a beautiful family and life with her. Simon provided for his family by working as a mason. Simon enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed BBQ and having some beers with his friends and family, and playing pool. Simon was very devout and would regularly attend Catholic mass.

Simon was preceded in death by his parents, Asuncion Castillo and Reyes Ortega; and his children, Leopoldo Castillo and Augustina Castillo.

He is survived by his wife, Augustina Castillo; his children, Aurelio Castillo, Simon Castillo, Jr., Maria Valenzuela, Leticia Venegas, Reyes Marie Castillo, Curtis Castillo, Adam Castillo, and Leon Castillo; and his grandchildren, Luis Mata, Amanda Castillo, Aurelio Castillo, Jr., Esmeralda Castillo, Simon Castillo III, Elle Castillo, Johnny Cadena IV, Andrew Cadena, Maryjane Cadena, Joey Cadena, Jose H. Olguin, Maria G. Silias, Juan L. Olguin, and Kloe Castillo.

A visitation for Simon will be held Monday, December 30, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704. A recitation of the holy rosary will occur Monday, December 30, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 E 2nd St, Austin, TX 78702. A committal service will occur Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S I-35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX 78704.
