Sopheap Chann Neak, 55, of Austin, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 after a courageous one year battle with Leiomyosarcoma. She was born on April 12, 1957 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Sombath and Lackana Promchann. Sopheap came to the United States in 1981. She immediately learned English and started working to support her family. She was strong and independent. There was nothing she couldn’t accomplish. Sopheap was a wonderful mother and a loving grandmother. She always had a positive attitude and took nothing for granted.

Sopheap became a member of several churches in the community such as Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Angels Healing and Recovery, and also Powerhouse of Praise. She lived life to the fullest and didn’t let her illness get in the way.

Sopheap was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Vanessa Neak. She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sokhatavee Angel Thet and husband, Tom; son, Chansokundara Christopher Neak; granddaughters, Lackana Sophie Thet and Sophear Jasmine Thet; grandsons, Maximus Lee McCallion and Brandon Lee McCallion; numerous other relatives; and a host of friends.

I worked with Sopheap at Motorola. She always made me laugh. She used to call me beautiful (that was the nick name she gave me). My prayers go out to the family. Sopheap will be missed

I'm so sorry to hear about Sophia's passing. We worked in the clerk area together at Motorola where she was always a lot of fun. My deepest sympathy to all of the Neak family.

Angel,Chris, Grandbabies. May God's peace and mercy comfort you at all times. I will greatly miss Sophia! When I think of her she makes me smile.
As we go through our lives we meet only a few people that have that effect on us in our lives. As I knew her she was crazy funny, kind, gentle, and loved Jesus and all of you so much! She was truly devoted to all of you.She left a great legacy in all of you as her mother.
Like I told Chris last night she had a nick name for all of us. Mine was Juliane. God Bless all of you, Julie Gilardi
