Sophia “Feeni” Zula Freeman went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2021. She was born on May 31, 1962 in Murfreesboro, TN to the late Mr. Thomas Freeman and Mildred C. Freeman-Spann. She attended Riverdale High School where she was a sophomore homecoming attendant.
Feeni enjoyed cooking and gardening in her spare time. She passionate about giving back to her community by volunteering at the local community center. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how small. Feeni was a caretaker through and through, she worked as hospice in providing home healthcare. In her final days and dealing with her own sickness, she cared for her 100-year-old grandmother. Feeni will be remembered for her acts of selflessness and will be missed.
Feeni is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Thomas Freeman Sr. and Mildred C. Freeman-Spann (Thomas), her brother Joseph Freeman, and her niece Jasmine Freeman.
Feeni is survived by her brothers: Thomas W. Freeman II, Raymond Scales Jr., Rory Scales and Monty Smith as well as her sister Raynell Scales. Her nieces: Shanika Freeman, Koneika Wimberly (Jason), Latoria Jones (Stanley), Yentl Bigsby, Destinae’ Wilson and Cherish Freeman. Her nephews: Jason Polk, Joseph Bigsby, Thomas Adams, Todd Freeman, Thomas Freeman III, Jamell Freeman, Anthony Hunt and James Brandon Wynn. Feeni was also survived by her Aunt Cornelia Freeman who was very special to her, Beemer her beloved dog, and special cousin Lavetta Hancock, Grandmother Gencie Mai Newsome, her loving Fiancé’ Eric Hines and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial Service for Feeni will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78752.
