Stephen D Forbis, 71, Austin, passed peacefully Friday, February 11th. He was born in Austin, on August 5, 1950, the son of James Walter Forbis and Virginia Elizabeth Lair. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Masters in Anthropology in 1972 and had an illustrious career as an artist, depicting wildlife and Native American's as they live and dressed in modern day America. His work has been shown in museums and art galleries across the southwest.
Steve was preceded in death by his first wife, Christy Roberts Forbis. He is survived by his wife Christye Forbis, children Andrew, Patrick, and Matthew Forbis along with his wife Mandy, as well as his step children, Scott Pollard and Adrienne Willcox along with her husband Nathan. He will be loved and remembered by his five grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Geneviève, Walker and Barrett.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, started at 2:00 PM at Austin Memorial Park cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
