Stephen was a bright and gentle light in this world. His warm, genuine smile and kind spirit would draw you in like a warm hug. You had to smile back when he aimed that special smile in your direction. And he generously shared that handsome gaze with all the people in his life that he loved the most, as well as with customers, strangers, and anyone who needed to know they were loved and appreciated.
He had a pure servant’s heart. And he gave his whole heart to his God, his family, his friends, and all those he met, no matter how great or small their place in this world might be. He showed his love in so many wonderful ways. He was a loving, fun, and passionate father to his sons Rowan and Ethan and to his stepdaughter Saylor. He was a selfless and adoring husband to his forever soulmate Heather, and the true light of their lives for his devoted parents Tom and Brenda and his sweet sister “Vic”. And he was a supportive and always-fun friend to so many. His life revolved around his faith, his family, and his friends.
He was also strong, fearless, and accomplished. At 19, he backpacked across Europe for three months, visiting 14 countries and 31 cities. He mastered wakeboarding, surfing, snowboarding, weightlifting, and cross-training. He loved gardening, landscaping, and DIY projects with Heather. He was a certified and admired chef and fitness trainer. He opened one of Austin’s first private dining restaurants, Sicola’s Fine Dining and Gourmet Catering. And created Culinary EXP, a one-of-a-kind food truck in Lago Vista.
His energy was boundless. And throughout his career, he prepared and served thousands of meals that were not just incredibly delicious but also served with a loving spirit that made every bite true comfort food for the soul. And you always felt full and fully loved.
There will never be another Stephen. He was unique and so kind and precious. His light and love will shine forever in the hearts of all those whose lives he blessed and all those who cherished him so unconditionally. And there is comfort in our pain and loss. Even though Stephen’s faith could not overcome his recent struggle with mental illness, a life of prayer, worship and genuine faith prepared him for a magnificent transition into God’s perfect and eternal love.
We will always miss you, Stephen. And we will always love you.
