

Stephen Willis Skinner, “Steve” passed peacefully at his ranch in Lexington, Texas on December 29, 2024, at the age of 70 after a long battle with Frontal Temporal Dementia. Always the loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend, Steve will be missed terribly but never forgotten in the hearts of those who have known and loved him.
Born June 7, 1954, to Herbert & Joyce Skinner, Steve grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated from McCallum High school. He received his business degree from Texas Tech University in 1977 where he was a proud Phi Delt. It’s in Lubbock, where he met the love of his life, LeAnne Cawley Skinner. The two were married on March 18, 1978, settled in Austin and had two wonderful children, Willis and EmilyAnne. Steve was a lifetime volunteer & past president of Rodeo Austin. He served as the Chairman of the Board of directors of the Texas Trucking Association and sat on their foundation board for years. He was proud to be a third-generation member of the Association of General Contractors of Texas. He was a life-long, extremely proud Red Raider. He started his own successful business, Skinner Transportation in 1992. He loved ranching, hunting, fishing, country music and Fleetwood Mac. Steve was an amazing dance partner, friend and had a love for his family that was endless. He cared very deeply about the people and causes near and dear to his heart. Steve was a man of unshakable faith and a was a wonderful, gracious man with the kindest spirit that will be greatly missed.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, LeAnne; his son, Stephen Willis Skinner II, and wife Jennifer Skinner; his daughter, EmilyAnne Skinner; and his grandsons, Stephen Willis Skinner III (Dutch), Boyd Herbert Skinner, and Chapel Brooks Skinner, all of Austin. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Billy Cawley, his sister Herbie Kay Skinner Lundquist and husband Dan Lundquist, Amanda Lundquist Tindal, Keith Lundquist, Dean Lundquist and their families.
Family, friends and others whose lives Steve touched, are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of life at 11:00am on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Highland Park Church. (5206 Balcones Drive, Austin) with a reception immediately following. Interment at Capital Parks prior to the Celebration of Life service.
