Having been together for 67 years, Steve’s parents set a great example of love, commitment, and loyalty. Steve carried that example into his honorable 32-year career with the Austin Police Department. Steve loved serving his community and excelled in every position he attained. He was a distinguished Senior Sergeant, a brave Patrol Officer, a determined Detective, and in arrest review he upheld the highest of standards. However, nowhere did he exhibit love and loyalty more than with his family––always putting them first. He was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather.
Steve is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lori LaRock Urias, his daughter, Amy Natasha Urias Tijerina and husband Robert Tijerina Jr.; their two precious daughters, Natalyn Olivia and Emerie Grace; son Joshua Steve Urias and fiancée Marissa Nicole Jones; brother, John Santana Urias and sister-in-law Kelly, along with numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold Lee Castro Urias and Mary Ruth Gomez Urias; brother, Harold Lee Urias Jr. and sister-in-law Marta Urias.
A visitation for Steve will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hill Country Bible Church, 12124 Ranch Rd 620 N., Austin, Texas 78750, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
