Sue Ann Craddock, age 72, passed away peacefully the morning of May 14, 2026, at Christopher House in Austin, Texas.
Sue Ann was born in Kerrville, Texas to Coy Frank Ross and Mary Theresa (Mazurek) Ross on August 6, 1953.
She was raised in Bandera, Texas where she was active in many school activities: student council, pep squad, cheerleading, FHA, basketball, NHS and much more.
She graduated high school in 1971 and attended Angelo State University to study business, having a desire to follow in her aunt’s footsteps. She wanted to work with neonatal babies, so she attended Del Mar College.
Sue Ann married Robert (Bob) Craddock on March 30, 1973, at Harmony Wedding Chapel in Houston. They repeated their vows on March 30, 1974, in a private ceremony at St Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, also in Houston.
While living in Houston, her husband got transferred for work to Austin, Texas. Sue Ann changed career paths and was hired by the City of Austin (USCO) in 1976. After stepping away in 1991 for a few months, she returned to the City of Austin, beginning a new path with Austin Energy where she was a supervisor for 21 years. She continued to work for Austin Energy, retiring in December 2015 with 35 years of City of Austin employment.
Sue Ann and Bob were blessed with their only daughter, Christine Ann, who took care of her mother since November of 2023 when Sue Ann began showing signs of Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Sue Ann was raised Catholic. Her Polish ancestors helped build St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera. She attended St. Joseph Catholic school where she would tell her daughter stories of the nuns hiking up their habits and playing ball with the school children. She also helped the nuns with chores where her treat for helping would be prunes.
Sue Ann and her husband were season ticket holders, attending Lady Longhorn basketball games. They were able to travel to Kentucky and watch the Lady Longhorns win the National Championship in 1986. In January 2006, they went to see the Longhorn football team win the 2005 National Championship.
Sue Ann enjoyed listening to music, Celtic Thunder being her favorite along with the oldies and classic country. She had many fun vacations with her family. She loved going to Branson, Missouri, which she did for many years. Her favorite time in Branson was during the Christmas season to see Andy Williams and Paul Revere and the Raiders perform.
Her other favorite vacation was cruising to Alaska, which she did twice. If she had a wish, it would have been to live in Sitka. She fell in love with that place.
Sue Ann was a very loving, determined, and helpful wife and mother. She would stay up helping her daughter with homework or just talk.
She was very friendly and never met a stranger. Even meeting someone for the first time, she would make them feel like they had been friends forever.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Craddock, and her parents, Coy and Mary Ross.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Craddock, older sister Rita Sellers, younger sister, Pat Phillips (Terry), Craddock Family brothers and sister-in laws along with nephews and nieces.
