Sue Correll Harrell

Sue Correll Harrell died on Thursday, July 22, 2004. She was born November 15, 1913 in Austin, to James A. and Ella Criss Correll. She was the widow of Aubrey Harrell. Sue was educated in the Austin Public Schools and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin in 1934. In 1937 she was married to William Walter James, Jr. following his graduation from The University of Texas Law School. They lived in Odessa, Texas for five years, where their son, William Walter James, III, was born. In 1942, Mr. James volunteered for duty during World War II and served until his death in 1944. Sue returned to Austin with their son, and worked for 29 years at The University of Texas in Austin. In 1974 she married Aubrey Harrell and retired from her work. They enjoyed their years of retirement and traveled all over the world. He died in 1981. Mr. and Mrs. Harrell were active members of Hyde Park United Methodist Church. Sue had been an involved member of the United Methodist Women and had served on various boards and committees of the church. Survivors include her son, William Walter James, III and his wife, Ellen; granddaughter, Debora James Bishop and her husband, Allen and their children, Joshua and Elizabeth; grandson, William Walter James, IV and his wife, Renee and daughter Morgan. Also surviving is her sister, Dr. Marie C. Tisdale and many nieces and nephews. Other survivors include step-daughter, Margaret Ann Harrell Holt and her husband, Bill; grandsons, Benjamin Aubrey Holt and Andrew Holt and many members of the Harrell family. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at Hyde Park United Methodist Church, 4001 Speedway in Austin. Burial of ashes will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at Capital Memorial Park in Pflugerville.
