Sunil Chaudhari

Sunil Chaudhari, a devoted husband, son, best dog dad ever, best friend to his wife, brother, uncle and friend to many, passed away Wednesday evening, March 19, 2014 with his family by his side at the age of 36, after a valiant battle with congestive heart failure and heart transplant surgery.

Sunil was born on October 17, 1977 in Charada, India to Hiraben and Pithubhai Chaudhari. He was the middle of three brothers, Rajesh (oldest) and Sandip (youngest). Sunil moved to Austin, Texas at the age of 9 and attended Westwood High School where he played varsity baseball. He began his college years at the University of Texas, the home of his beloved Longhorns. He then completed his Bachelor’s degree at Lynchburg College in Virginia, where he played college baseball.

Sunil’s greatest source of joy was his family and friends. On June 5, 2010 he proudly started his own family by marrying his wife and best friend Amy. Sunil and Amy met through mutual friends they still hold dear to their hearts today. They had begun building their life together here in Austin by recently buying their first family home and raising their two dogs, Sophie and Simon. They shared enjoyment of building their faith in God with mutual friends and falling more in love with each other every day.

Sunil’s heart and smile allowed all who knew him to love him instantly. The amount of those who love Sunil prove that beyond a doubt. Sunil believed in being a good person, being honest and devoted to those he loved, and above all trying each day to love and be happy.

The last year of Sunil’s life was lived fighting for his life that he loved so much with his wife Amy, his two loving dogs, his friends and family. He would tell anyone to fight for their happiness and do what you can to help others. Amy his wife says they “stole time” this past year due to Sunil’s fighting will and determination coupled with the loving support of the many who cared for him. Sunil’s heart may have physically failed – but the love in his heart outweighed any physical illness.

Sunil’s loss is felt most deeply by his wife Amy, parents Hiraben and Pithubhai, brothers Rajesh (Niru) and Sandip (Anjanu) and mother-in-law Nita Allen, brother- in-law Justin Allen (Jessica), his many friends and their children who call him Uncle Su (known for his Baby Whisperer talents) and a huge extended network of friends and family. The family is grateful for the kindness and care they received from Seton Hospital and The Seton’s Heart Failure Team.

We would ask that if you are able to please donate blood in Sunil’s name at the Blood Center of Central Texas (Lamar by 45th St.). Amy and the family extend many thanks to those who donated blood that Sunil received during and after his heart transplant, while trying to preserve the life he cherished so dearly. We know Sunil is free from all pain and most likely back to playing golf on courses that would make all of us jealous.

Visitation will be Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM with Indian Prayers at 6:30 PM and recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills located at 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX 78750. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at St. Louis of King-France Catholic Church located at 7601 Burnet Road Austin, TX 78757 with graveside service immediately following at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks at 14501 N. Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.

There will be a reception following this service at the home of Patty and Rick Knaus located at 11118 Conchos Trail, Austin, TX 78726.
