Susan was born in Austin, Texas on June 11, 1955, to Drs Georgia and Carey Legett, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Kendall Carlton; daughters: Morgan (Titus) Mote, Emily (Josh) Peters, and Alissa Edwards; sons: Nick Edwards, Andrew Edwards and stepsons: Benjamin (Michelle) Carlton and Joshua Carlton. Along with her siblings: Rey (Pam) Legett, GeorgeAnn (Mark) Nelsen, Jon (Debbie) Legett; her grandchildren: Natalia Edwards, Ashton Edwards, Tucker Carlton, Sierra Carlton and Ian Carlton; and several nieces and nephews.
Susan graduated with her bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin followed by a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Whatever, Susan set her mind to, she did it with enthusiasm and excellence. She was an accomplished flautist, lived and worked in Egypt, worked as a travel director all over the world, helped to found and support many local, national and international ministries which supported causes she believed in, along with homeschooling and raising outstanding children. After her children graduated high school, she became a substitute teacher and reading coach where she continued to inspire the next generation.
Besides her many and varied accomplishments, Susan was the best wife a man could ask for and lived her life intentionally as an example of Jesus. She loved people, prayed and worshiped our Heavenly Father without ceasing. Above all, she exemplified everything a godly woman should be.
She will be greatly missed, and we look forward to seeing her in heaven.
A celebration of life service will be held at Cross Fellowship Church in Black Forest, Colorado on October 30, 2026, at 11:00 A.M preceded by burial in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation would be appreciated.
