

Sybil was a resident of El Campo, Texas for many years, teaching at Louise Hutchins Elementary School. She graduated from Sam Houston State University, Summa Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Elementary Education. In El Campo, she was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church and active in many church activities. Sybil was a 50-year plus member of the Eastern Star, past president of The Women’s Club, member of Hoe and Hope Garden Club, the El Campo Garden Club, BEES, the Wharton County Historical Society, and Wharton County Retired Teachers Association. She was also honored as a Yellow Rose of Texas by Governor Rick Perry.
Sybil is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Houston Kerr. She is survived by her two children, daughter Jill Brown and son-in-law, J. E. “Buster” Brown of Austin and son Robert Houston Kerr, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Brenda Kerr of Everett, Washington; her grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, Jay Brown and wife Sabrina, all of Austin, Jeb Brown and wife Kristen of Houston, Kendra Lattimer and husband, Ed and Robert Houston Kerr, III of Gilbert, Arizona; and great-grandchildren, Tucker, Barron and Hyatt Brown, Olivia and Finley Brown, and Travis and Austin Lattimer. She is also survived by several nieces and great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Summit at Westlake Hills and Heart to Heart Hospice for their wonderful care.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21st at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, Austin followed by a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. at Kaufman City Cemetery, Kaufman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of El Campo.
