Sylvia Ybarra

Our beloved sister Sylvia departed from this world into the loving arms of our Savior April 13, 2019, at her residence in Austin surrounded by her loving family. Sylvia worked for the State Comptroller's Office as an Executive Assistant where under her leadership co-founded the Mexican-American Comptroller's Employee Association (MACEA). She received many awards one of which was the Comptroller Employee Incentive Program. She was also active at Saint Andrew's Episcopal School where her son was enrolled. Sylvia retired after 35 years but continued working in a different capacity while still battling her illness until she no longer could maintain her level of professionalism and retired in 2018. She was a devoted member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church in Austin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Mary "Momo" and Pedro Ybarra, brothers, Roque, Ruben, and Ricky Ybarra. She leaves behind her beloved son Jacob Ybarra, her sweetie Raymond Fuller, siblings Gloria Ybarra, Vicky (Pete) Pompa, Frances (Rodrigo) Castilleja, Elizabeth (Ernest) Garza, Beatrice (John) Ogg, Peter Ybarra, Diane Ybarra, Robert (Zerah) Ybarra, Ellen Ybarra , Steve (Shirley) Ybarra, Rachel (Tony) West, Ruby Ybarra, Albert (Velma) Ybarra and Ceceil Ybarra. In addition to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Our family wishes to especially acknowledge our sister Gloria for the loving care given to our beloved sister Sylvia #4.

A Rosary will be held at Cook-Walden Funeral Home 6100 North Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church , 7601 Burnet Road Austin, Texas Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 10 a.m. A reception will follow at Louis IX Hall.
