
Teresa Jean Reed Southerland (Mrs. Louis) Teresa Jean Reed Southerland, age 91, of Austin, Texas, died peacefully in her home December 4, 2004. She was born on October 22, 1913, in Austin, Texas to J.R. Reed, founder of J.R. Reed Music Co., and Teresa Mitchell Reed. Jean was educated at Ward Bellmont and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1934. She married Louis F. Southerland on January 8, 1940, who was co-founder of Page-Southerland Page Architectural Firm. Jean had many interests and was involved in many organizations such as, the Womens Symphony League, the Junior League of Austin, Phi Beta Phi Sorority, the English Speaking Union, a charter member of the Heritage Society, The Settlement Club, The Austin Assembly and was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Austin. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Louis F. Southerland. She is survived by her son, Robb Southerland and wife Betty; grandchildren, Jocelyn Potts, Anne Schniederjan and her husband Jerame, William Duncan, and Ashley Southerland; two great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Potts and William Schniederjan; sister, Jo Ann James of Fort Worth and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express grateful appreciation to Gayden Thompson for his years of companionship and care of Jean. Also, special thanks to Hospice Odyssey and her caretakers Ana, Emma, and Maria for their caring treatment. Family graveside service to be held at Oakwood Cemetery.
