She was born August 22, 1928, in Austin, Texas, to Edna Norine McCoy and Reginald Cloud McCoy. Prior to moving to Dime Box, Texas, in 2016, she lived in Bastrop, TX on the family ranch that she and her husband built. She was a 6th generation Texan, tracing her roots back to before the Republic of Texas.
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Franklin Berry; her son James Edward Berry; her parents; her sister and brother-in law, Edna and Portus Douglas.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Robert Berry and his wife Yolanda, of Dime Box; her granddaughter, Victoria McGee and husband, Donte of Bastrop; her great granddaughter Kamryn Rae McGee; sister-in-law Geraldine F Eckert of Evansville Indiana and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Thelma was many things in her life: wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, teacher, mentor, rancher, and gardener. But most of all, she would like to be remembered first and last as a Christian. She truly loved the Lord her God with all her heart, all her soul, and all her might. She would have had all men come to love Him and accept Him as their personal Savior as she had. I know God welcomed her with the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
The family would like to thank the Enhabit Hospice staff of College Station Texas for their loving care. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Kia Parsi for his friendship and professional care.
A Memorial Service will be officiated by Pastor James Derrick held on January 18th, 2024 at 12PM in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel located at 5416 Parkcrest Drive Austin, TX 78731, followed by private interment at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
