

Thelma Collins Davis, 79, of Gatesville, died Monday, February 20, 2006 in Austin after a brief illness. Thelma was born March 11, 1926, in Levita, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dennie C. Collins. Thelma attended school in Levita and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1943. She married Curtis A. Davis on July 9, 1943. Following World War II, Curt and Thelma engaged in farming and ranching in the Ames community and Moccasin Bend near Gatesville. She was employed by the Texas State School for Boys and later served as the business manager of Curtis A. Davis, Realtors until her recent illness. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gatesville. Thelma was devoted to her family and her community, which she served in many ways. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Curtis A. Davis, Sr., her son, Curtis A. Davis, Jr., and brothers, William W. Collins and Dennie B. Collins. Survivors include her sons, Gary and wife, Sherri, of Austin, Mark and wife, Rebecca, also of Austin, and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Davis, of Flat. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Collins, and wife, Patricia, of Pasadena, and her sisters, Betty Collins Sorge and husband, Charles, also of Pasadena, and Barbara Collins Davidson, of Clear Lake City. She is also survived by five grandsons, five great grandchildren and many cousins, nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held in Gatesville at the First Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2006. A private burial at Restland Cemetery will precede the memorial service. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Gatesville or the American Cancer Society.
