

With a strong will and a passion for life throughout her almost 92 years, Theo Griesenbeck Terry Windsor passed away peacefully at home on January 26, 2008. She was born January 30, 1916 in Alum Creek, Texas to J. J. Griesebeck and Josie Spence. She married Ross DeMauri Terry in 1939 and was married for 28 years until his death on December 6, 1967. She married John Windsor on June 28, 1969 and was married until his death on October 9, 1978. Theo Windsor was fiercely competitive and became a master at whatever she played; high school tennis, fast pitch softball, gin rummy, bridge or golf. Theo was a unique woman. She was a member of the Austin Country Club for over 60 years. The records show that after she and her husband Ross joined ACC in 1946, she became President by 1949. A wonderful golfer, her name appears on the Urbantke Trophy, the Ladies Handicap Cup, the Stacy Elliott as winner and runner up, and Club Championship as Winner and Runner Up. She, and Pat Gainer, won the Ladies Partnership Tournament eight times - spanning the years from 1967 to 1990. Theo began golf lessons with Harvey Penick and quickly became a golf nut. Her husband Ross played golf to please her. She improved her card playing skills to please him. Theo was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Member ship by the Austin Country Club Women's Golf Association on May 23, 2006. She has the singular distinction of having made a "Hole -In-One" at every location of the Austin Country Club. Theo loved to travel. She was fortunate to have traveled around the world and enjoyed visiting many countries over the span of her life. She had an incredible memory and a story for any occasion. Theo was a member of the Tarrytown United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She took great delight in her family, especially being a grandmother and great-grandmother who was known as Mamaw. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Terry: four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Kimberley Hinton, Michael Hinton and son Ellis, Lucinda Hinton Schwan and children Charles, Ross and Josephine, Charla Changos and her daughter Catherine; her brother Judge Jack Griesenbeck and his wife Ruby; sisters-in-law, Agnes Griesenbeck and Rayma Terry; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. Friends may come by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home Wednesday after 11:00 AM to sign the register book and pay their respects. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Tarrytown United Methodist Church, 2601 Exposition Blvd., Austin, Texas 78703. Theo will be buried next to Ross in Austin Memorial Park. The family wishes to give their special thanks to Hospice Austin for their special care during Theo's illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Austin, 4107 Spicewood Springs Road, Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78759, Tarrytown United Methodist Church or to the charity of choice.
