Thomas (Tommy) Harry Anderson Jr., age 75, of Austin, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. He was a son of Harry and Gwen King Anderson, born April 12, 1949 in Lubbock, Texas. Tommy grew up in Odessa, Texas. In his youth he was an Eagle Scout, and moved to Austin when he began studies at the University of Texas.
Tommy worked in the newspaper distribution industry all his life, beginning as a paperboy in Odessa and ultimately as the night mailroom supervisor at the Austin American Statesman. Tommy enjoyed playing softball, making flutes and listening to music. He suffered a stroke in 2008 and made a conscious decision to treat his disability with humor and grace.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Toni Anderson; daughter Fadra Huntingford and husband Dave, sons Aaron, Joshua and Jeremy Anderson, brother Jerry Anderson and wife Gail, nephew Dave Anderson, grandchildren Elizabeth Huntingford and Evan, Hunter and Henslee Anderson and his beloved aunt Joyce Walker of Odessa.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Gwen Anderson, and his twin children Jason and Crystal Anderson.
A memorial service for Thomas will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish South Chapel, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78704.
