

Thomas Watkins, Jr. died Monday, November 23, 2009 with his loving family by his side. Thomas was the son of Thomas Sr. and Pearl Lloyd Watkins, all lifelong residents of Austin. Born on January 15, 1919, he was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth St. John. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Mikulencak Watkins; his daughters, Kathy and Dianna; his son, Robert; beloved grandson, Nathan; and nephew Erwin Haddon. Thomas served his country as a soldier in the US Army during World War II. He retired from the University of Texas. He was a founding member of the Austin Chapter of the KJT, a member of St. Austin's Parish and later a member of St. Louis Parish. Above all, Thomas loved his family and will always be remembered for his sense of loyalty, kindness and good humor. His family would like to extend their appreciation to the Seton Hospital (38th St) nurses and sitters who cared for Thomas with generous hearts in his time of need. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in the Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Austin Memorial Park.
