Born in Kansas, he was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After earning his Bachelor and Master’s Degrees from the University of Tulsa, Tom joined IBM, and was a Big Blue Lifer. Beginning his career in New York, he transferred to Boulder, Colorado when IBM opened a plant there, because, as he said, “it was west of the Mississippi.” He later transferred to Austin, Texas, and spent the remainder of his life in this area.
Over the years, Tom’s hobbies included an Austin Healey Sprite race car, building a seven-stall horse barn with a twenty-ton hay loft, and joining the community woodshop late in life. He was actively involved with Habitat for Humanity, building several homes in Wimberley, TX, as well as in Mexico. It was in these environments that he was able to find some of his happiest times, working with his hands, teaching, and making new friends.
Tom and Sue were active members of Light of Christ Parish in Georgetown.
Tom is survived by his wife Sue, and their combined family of six children, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, a cousin, a grandnephew, and a grandniece.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to Light of Christ church, in Georgetown; https://www.lightofchristgeorgetown.org/give
