Tommie Cardenas

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend Tommie Cardenas lost his battle to cancer and met our heavenly father on Sunday April 13, 2014. Tommie was born to Carlos and Pauline Cardenas on October 30, 1934 in Manor, Texas. He retired from The University of Texas after 35 years of service. Tommie was a pillar of strength in the city of Manor and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia (Samaripa) Cardenas, Leo Cardenas, children Christine (Raymond) DeLaCruz, Adam (Linda) Cardenas, Debbie (Daniel) Helton, and Brenda Cardenas. Tommie was the proud grandfather of Bianca, Lindsey, Nicole, Nina, Daniel, Kristi, Brice, Kobe, and Kendall. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Jessie, Phoenix, Scarlett, Triston, Ryley, and Aiden. Tommie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and oldest son Tommy Cardenas, Jr. The rosary will be held on Tuesday April 15th at 7 pm at Cook Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, Texas. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 16th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 12010 Old Highway 290, Manor, Texas at 11 am.
