

Tommie Fetzer Mays, 91, died peacefully at her home on November 13th. She was born in Waco, Texas on February 3, 1920 to Tom and Grace Fetzer. She met and married her beloved husband, Ivan K. Mays in San Antonio in 1942. They were together for 66 years until his death in 2008. She was an active member of Tarrytown United Methodist Church, a true Christian woman in belief, attitude, word, and deed who firmly believed she would rest with God.
She was an avid volunteer all her life working with the Red Cross in military hospitals, the Assistance League of Austin, at Seton Hospital, and in many ways at Tarrytown United Methodist Church.
Tommie is survived by two daughters Diana Mays of San Marcos and Cheryl Halton and husband John of Austin. Tommie had four grandchildren, Stephanie Murphree, of Austin; Matthew Murphree and his wife Leigha, of San Marcos; Charles Halton and his wife Lori of Louisville, Kentucky; and Andrew Halton of Austin; and two great grandchildren, Jackson Murphree and Grey Halton.
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dr. Kent Beasley and his nurse Karen Schuster for many years of kind and attentive care, to Peggy Tinkey of Robinson Creek Hospice for her exceptional care during Tommie's last days, and the clergy, staff, Stephen Ministry, and members of Tarrytown United Methodist Church through whom God extended his love and support.
Visitation is Friday, November 18 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish, 3125 N. Lamar. Burial Service is at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19 at the Hutto City Cemetery (from Hwy 71 in Hutto, go south 1.5 miles on FM 1660).
