

Truett Harvey Sanders passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2008. He was born to Henry and Sarah Moore Sanders in Cameron, Texas, on October 6, 1919. Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce Elaine; son, Jim Sanders and wife, Kay of Lavon, Texas; daughter, Carolyn Boon of San Angelo, Texas; five grandchildren, Jeff Sanders of Plano, Texas, Greg Sanders and wife, Heather of Morton, Texas, Mike Sanders of Dallas, Texas, Angela Clemmer and husband, Josh of Kermit, Texas and J.D. Boon of San Angelo, Texas; and three great grandchildren, McKenna and Allison Sanders of Morton, Texas and Jaden Clemmer of Kermit, Texas. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by both parents, nine brothers and sisters, granddaughter, Staci Boon and grandson, Ryan Sanders. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the Marianas Islands. Truett was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 35 years. During that time he was instrumental in the development and implementation of a centralized telephone system for all State of Texas Agencies. He retired as District Marketing Manager in 1981. He moved to the Baptist Memorial Center in San Angelo, Texas, in 2003, having been a lifelong resident of Austin, Texas. Truett was a member of Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin for many years, and most recently became a member of the First Baptist Church of San Angelo. He was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman and spent his retirement years at his residence on Lake Travis. The Family would like to thank the staff of the Baptist Memorial Center for their care and compassion. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Baptist Memorial Center or the Salvation Army.
