Truman H. McCleary
July 21, 1931 – February 17, 2021
Truman H. McCleary, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at his home in Manor, Texas with his loving wife of 67 years, Lynn at his side. He was born on July 21, 1931 in Oxford Pennsylvania to John Franklin and Marion (Huston) McCleary at their home on the family farm. He was a 1949 graduate of Oxford Senior High School and attended the University of Delaware.
Truman married Lynn Hauber on May 9th, 1953. They raised three children, Robert, Lauren and Sara. Together they ran the family farm until 1966 when he started his career at W. L. Gore and Associates in Newark, Delaware. Truman worked at the Delaware location till 1981 when he relocated to Austin, TX to manage the construction and manufacturing operations of a new site for W. L. Gore in Manor, TX. After his retirement from W. L. Gore in 1995, with his wife they started their own business in antiques sales. They would travel the country buying for or selling at shows, often visiting family and friends in the Pennsylvania/Delaware area.
He is survived by his wife Lynn, son and daughter in law Robert and Pamelia McCleary, daughter and son in law Lauren and Maynard McMahon, daughter and son in law Sara and William Laubach, and four grandchildren Jessica McMahon, Robert McMahon, John Watson and Neal Laubach.
