Truman Nicholas Morris Jr.

Truman Nicholas Morris Jr., affectionately known as Nicky, joined his precious darlin’ Molly in Heaven on August 23, 2026. He was born on November 7, 1943, in Austin, Texas, to the late Dr. Truman N. Morris Sr. and Julia Drake Morris. One of four children and the only boy, he grew up alongside his sisters, Margaret “Margie”, Mary, and Judy.

Nicky met Molly, the love of his life, at TCU in 1967. They shared 57 years of marriage and raised three children, Kim, Trey, and Bobby, while building a life filled with family, friends, the outdoors, and adventure. Nothing brought him greater pride or joy than his family, especially his grandchildren, who gave him his favorite name of all - Aura. Molly's passing in December left an enormous space in his heart, and he found great comfort in talking about when he would see her again.

He was truly larger than life, with a big heart, a generous spirit, and a gift for turning business associates into friends and ordinary moments into great stories. A natural leader and businessman with deep Austin roots, Nicky spent his career working at Calcasieu Lumber Company, where he ultimately became President and CEO. Founded by his grandfather in the late 1800s, Calcasieu helped build and shape Austin for generations. Nicky proudly carried that legacy forward until the company was sold in the late 1990s.

An avid outdoorsman, Nicky loved both the competition and camaraderie of golfing, hunting, and fishing with dear friends. Later in life, some of his happiest moments were spent watching his sons and grandkids hunt and play golf. Whether it was a weekend at the ranch or a friendly round of “Aura Golf,” he was always their biggest fan. He also loved football, especially when the Texas Longhorns were playing.

Nicky had a passion for horse racing and ranching. His love for horses took him and Molly to Ruidoso, New Mexico, and later to the Running M Ranch in Johnson City. He was the ultimate host, enjoying welcoming countless customers, builders, and friends to the Calcasieu Ranch in Freer. Nicky loved a good time, but what mattered most was enjoying it with the people around him.

Growing his faith in Jesus and humbly trying to lead by example were Nicky's everyday goals. His faith was personal, joyful, and unwavering. Jesus was his best friend, and he loved telling others about Him. In his final years, his relationship with the Lord became an even greater source of purpose, strength, and peace.

Nicky is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Truman Nicholas Morris III and Lori, and Robert Bunnell Morris and Lesley; his treasured grandchildren, Hudson, Hatton (Mattie), Molly-Kimberlyn, Anna-Nicole, Truman IV, Margaret, Nicholas, Josie (Cooper), and Tyler; his great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Ross; and his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Danay Covert. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Molly; their daughter, Kimberly Morris Ross; and his sisters Margaret Wilkerson and Mary Hornsby.

Nicky will be deeply missed, but his larger-than-life spirit, generous heart, and deep love for Jesus, Molly, and his family and friends will live on in the stories told, the lessons shared, and the many lives he touched.
