As a child, Joe worked as a paperboy and developed an instinct for recognizing "first light". Decades later, he would still rise to greet the sun as it first appeared on the horizon. Joe later obtained a bachelor's degree in engineering from Texas A&M College Station and would go on to practice engineering as an employee of Honeywell for many years.
On March 30th, 2018 Joe got married to the love of his life, Jackie Vagle. Together they shared many laughs, banter, and a love for their dogs (especially Lesal D, a miniature dachshund that brought Joe immense joy in the time he had with her).
Joe was a member of AA for 26 years. Proudly sober since October 9, 1995, Joe helped many men and women throughout their journeys. He will be remembered fondly for his patience, tolerance, nonjudgmental nature and for the love he spread to all who knew him.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Dorothy Linder as well as his brother Bob Linder.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife Jackie Vagle and siblings Mike (Barbara), Mary Kathrine, and Kevin.
A memorial service for Joe will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Joe's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
