Thank you, Vernon, for your service to our country.

Laughter that was big and strong. Teaching that was insightful, patient, and enthusiastic. Leadership that was easy to follow. This is Dr. Vernon Griffin's legacy at Austin Community College, as well as the success of all his devoted students. Personally, I always wanted to hear that sax solo. We miss you, Vernon.

I had the pleasure of working for and with Dr Griffin for 12 years. He was a friend and I am very sorry to hear of his passing.

Vernon was truly one of God's masterpieces.  He touched so many people's lives in ways that only could be God sent. I would see people go in to his office feeling the weight of the world and come out on top of the world.  Seeing the pictures of his family brings back memories of all the stories he shared, he didn't have to say how much he loved them; his face and excitement would say it all.

I would like to say “well done”. Vernon was my mentor and helped me launch my career. He was kind and patient and had a wonderful sense of humor. I made a point of taking my children by to meet this man that had been so inspirational to me. Your love of teaching will live on in me and my work. You will be missed.

I knew Dr. Griffin when I worked for him as an instructor at Austin Community College. He had great advice for dealing with students. I would often stop by just to say hello when I was in the building. He was a wonderful person and I remember him fondly.

Vernon Griffin was a great man who had so many wonderful stories to tell you.  He always had a great laugh and always told you the truth bout life and people who not to trust.  We enjoyed him being around the Pinnacle Campus and always knew he always had his door open for a kind word to you.  He spoke of being in a band and I remember that picture he always carried in his wallet to show off to people how he used to look.  He was a kind sole that we will never forget. He spoke about how much he loved his kids and sometimes told funny stories about them. God bless the whole family. May he rest in peace.

Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.

Vernon was a friend to students.  He would give them the time they needed and advise them until they made the decisions that they needed.

To all the Griffin family my prayers go out to you. I never met Dr Griffin in person but had the pleasure of being a friend to your daughter Nadine. I know she loved and cared for you very much.

Goodby Cousin, who was also like a Brother.  I will never forget the fun game of Chocolate and Vanilla we played at Grandma's house.  I was so lucky to have you on my team (smile). RIP in God's loving care, and know that God will guide and protect those you leave behind just as you did.

I will always remember your big smile and that infectious laughter you had.  When you heard it, you could not help but enjoy a good belly laugh with you.
I take comfort in knowing that now you will never have any sorrow, and no more pain, you are now home with the Lord.
