

Vernon Sneed, Jr. was born September 30, 1940 as the fourth of eight children to the late Vernon Sneed and Corine Campbell Sneed Maxwell in Rosenthal, Texas. Vernon answered the Master's call and went from earth to his reward on April 9, 2015 in Austin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Thurman Charles Sneed, Emmanuel Sneed, and Warren Sneed, and 1 great-granddaughter, Atara Veroniqux Sneed.
Bro. Vernon Sneed was a faithful laborer in the Lord's kingdom. He accepted the Lord's call on his life as a preacher and shared the gospel with all who would listen. Bro. Sneed was ordained a minister under the late Rev. M. C. Arnold at the Nineteenth Street Baptist Church. In 1980, Bro. Vernon Sneed, Jr. became the Assistant Pastor at Bible Believers Fellowship Church, Austin, Texas.
Vernon was a 1960 high school graduate of the old L.C. Anderson High School. From 1960 - 1973, Mr. Sneed worked as a shoe shine man for his late Uncle Jesse Campbell, as furniture repair man for Economy Furniture and as auto mechanic for B & B Body Shop. In 2000, Mr. Sneed retired after 27 years (1973 - 2000) of loyal and dedicated service as Building Operator and Air Conditioner Climate Control for Austin Independent School District.
Bro. Vernon Sneed, Jr. was a trained prison volunteer at the Travis County Correctional Complex in Del Valle, Texas, the Travis County Jail on 10th Street in Austin, Texas and the Travis State Jail on FM 969 in Austin, Texas. He loved preaching and sharing his testimony to the prisoners on Sundays and weekdays in a one-on-one setting. In October 2006, Bro. Vernon Sneed received the "Travis County Sheriff's Office Lifetime Achievement Award" in appreciation of 30+ years of service to the inmate population.
What we will remember most about our husband, father, brother, uncle, grand-father, great grand-father, is that he did things in his own, and at times, unorthodox way. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with "anyone" about the goodness of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We will miss his vitality, wit, giving and caring.
Bro. Vernon Sneed was a great carpenter. He build a game room where friends could come over and play pool . He was a passionate man who enjoyed automotive , he could fixed any and everything. Vernon was always there to help friends with carpentry projects or whatever else they needed him for. He also enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Sneed, Sr., Hutto, TX; 3 sisters, Annie Laura Sneed, Viola Searcy (Morris), both of Austin, TX; Virginia Guyton, Pflugerville, TX; 1 aunt, Rosa Hill, Austin, TX; sister-in-laws: Joyce Sneed, Round Rock, TX; Susie Sneed, Waco, TX; Cheryl Smalley Sneed, Dallas, TX; Ella D. White, Bellflower, CA; Dorothy White, Shreveport, LA; Mackie Butler (James), Lossie Gibson (Jeff) both of Shreveport, LA; Curly Jones, Monroe, LA; Mercie Woolfolk (Royal), Addison, IL; Bertha Hawkins, Missouri City. TX and Clara McCarter, Houston, TX; brother-in-laws: James White (Carolyn) Elkton, MD; John White (Beverly), Houston, TX; Ralph White (Sandra), Frierson, TX; 21 grandchildren (Ian, Roylee, Aaron, Nathan, Kimberly, Larius, Jr., Vernisha, Veronica, A.J., Korinthian, Vernon IV, Jessica, Tyris, NaTéa, Kalliyan, Uniqux, Kennadi, Cyrenius, Jade, Jarius, Liam), 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
