

Vernon Brackin Streeter Vernon B. Streeter, a man of great intellect, integrity, and strong moral character was born on March 25, 1919 in McDonald, Ohio and died on May 16, 2007 in Austin, Texas. Vernon was a devoted husband and dearly loved his wife, Bernice Amy Anderson. Their marriage lasted for over 64 years. He graduated from McDonald High School and from Hiram College in Ohio with a Bachelor's degree in history. He entered graduate school at Ohio Wesleyan University and served as an instructor, however, his educational pursuits were interrupted by World War II. He served with distinction during the war in France and Germany. He also served his country during the Korean conflict. Vernon worked for the federal government for over three decades, initially with the US Postal Service and later with the Social Security Administration. He also worked for the Texas State Department of Human Resources for ten years. Vernon was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was a firm believer in education and was proud of the educational accomplishments of his two sons, Richard Henry Streeter, an attorney in Washington DC, and Dr. Larry Edward Streeter, a school administrator in Raleigh, North Carolina. He loved to read, listen to classical music, and watch movies. Vernon felt very strongly about family genealogy, he spent many hours doing research on both sides of the family, and felt it was important to all family members. In addition to his wife and two sons, Vernon is survived by two daughters-in-law, Sandra Kay Streeter of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Lucille Anderson Streeter, of Washington, DC., three grandchildren, Jennifer Kylean Streeter of Mesa, Arizona, Erin Kathleen Wells and her husband William Jeffrey Wells, of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Thomas Clayton Streeter of Houston, Texas. He was the proud great-grandpa of Keldon Brackin Powers and Hadley Kay Wells. He is also survived by two nieces, Cynthia Leigh Halteman of Seattle, Washington, and Wendy Jean Streeter of Washington, DC. The following will serve as pallbearers for Vernon: Terrance Tschatschula, LeeRoy Anderson, Gary Anderson, Allen Baines, Steve Shelton, Stuart Shelton, Dennis Anderson, and Ryan Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Marylee Anderson, Jewel Anderson, Mike Marshall, Virginia and Leroy Tschatschula, and Leon Ashbrook. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 21, 2007 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1500 W. Anderson Lane, with Reverend David Schroder officiating.
