Vicki Hall

She was born in Jefferson, Texas on November 13, 1943, the second child of Edgar Lamar and Winnie Greer Hall. The family moved soon afterwards to Corpus Christi where older brother Eddie Junior and she were blessed eventually with sister, Julie and brother, Tony.

Vicki was a bright, talented and creative child performing dance, acrobatics, and singing as she grew up. She was a Cheer Leader at Wynn Seale Junior High, a tennis player, and very active in the choral department at WB Ray High School, where she graduated in 1961. Throughout those years it was apparent that Music, particularly opera, would be her life-long work.

She studied voice performance at Del Mar Junior College and The University of Texas, graduating with a BA in 1967. She was employed as the first Choral Director at Foy Moody High School in Corpus Christi but moved the following Fall to New York City where she was hired for the New York City Opera Chorus. She won a Rockefeller Grant and toured Germany auditioning for several Opera Houses. She became a contracted singer in Cologne, Hagen and at Gaertnerplatz in Munich. She was also engaged in Berlin at Theater des Westins, as well as several guest performances with leading coloratura roles in Der Rosenkavalier (Vienna State Opera), The Marriage of Figaro, Daughter of the Regiment. She was well known for her performances of the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute. She gave guest performances in many other leading roles as well.

She did several radio and TV performances also during her career in Germany. While living in Berlin, she helped begin the college level program of training aspiring singers, dancers and actors to perform Musicals. During the last fifteen years of her career she was head of the Musical Theater Department (Bayerische Theater - Akademie August Everding) and much loved by all of her students. Many very successful professionals were trained by Vicki and her hand-picked teachers.

She retired and returned to Texas in November of 2012. She delighted in spending time with her family and many friends, writing and painting.

Vicki was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, her older brother Edgar Lamar Hall Junior. She is survived by her sister (Julie Hall Blackard, Buchanan Dam) and brother (Tony Hall, Corpus Christi), and various nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
