Victor married Cynthia Espinosa in an unforgettable ceremony at his home in Southwest Austin on 07-07-07 at 7pm. He had a lifelong passion for basketball, and once boxed in the title bout in Madison Square Garden. Victor also was a professional dancer, specializing in Latin and ballroom dance and changed professions after moving to Austin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
His greatest passion involved being around his friends, family and neighbors whose kindnesses never ended. He will be remembered as a loving, caring and compassionate man who was always willing to help in any way he could.
Victor is preceded in death by his father.
Victor is survived by his loving wife, Cyndie Espinosa-Mercado; son, Keegan Sheridan; daughter, Alyssa Mercado; mother, Paula Mercado; special friend, Cathie Sheridan; sisters, Marilyn “Maggie” Pietrocola and husband Ralph and their daughter, Lauren, Kelly Joseph and husband, Chris and Melody Mercado and her son, Aaron. He is also survived by his lifelong friend and brother, Mario Hall and his wife, Shannon. He considered his in-laws as his best friends and loved spending weekends and holidays with them. Finally, he felt pure love for his beloved Boxer, Bruno, and playfully-- or not so playfully-- called him his second son.
Victor and Cyndie send special thanks to employers Dell Financial Services and our YNN-Austin family. Both stayed highly involved in their lives throughout Victor’s illness.
The family also wishes to thank Dr. Punit Chadha and the loving care given by the entire staff at Texas Oncology South.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Chapel, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Austin at hospiceaustin.org.
