Vi Volcik, 89, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 8, 2021. Vi was born in Smithville, Texas, to her loving parents Charlie and Ida Mae Stiteler on April 21, 1932 and with her birth the world instantly became a better place. Vi brought so much love and light into this world and was a very kind and caring woman who truly loved people with her whole heart. Vi graduated in 1950 from Smithville High School, where she was active in several organizations in addition to being a member of the Pep Squad. She went on to attend and graduate from Nixon - Clay College. After college, Vi went to work for the Travis County welfare department as a secretary. It was during this time in her life that she met the love of her life, Eugene "Gene" Volcik, in 1952. After a courtship of several blessed months, they married on May 23rd, 1953 and were married. 68 years full of love, laughter and kindness. Vi was loved by everyone she came in contact with -- to know her truly was to love her. She held so much love in her heart and was such a kind, loving and genuine person. Vi always had kind words to say and her smile would light up any room that she was in. Vi was a faithful servant of God and regularly attended Genesis Presbyterian Church. Vi loved being part of The American Legion and participating in the activities held there, as well as being a member of the Czech Club and being part of celebrating an annual get together of medical professionals. Vi loved these many activities as well as traveling all over the United States and enjoying the Czech Republic with her husband and family. She led a beautiful life full of family and fellowship.
Vi is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Gene Volcik, her sons Charlie Volcik, Wayne Volcik (Lisa Barton), her daughter Mary Jones; Grandchildren Allyson Henley (Jeremiah Henley), Jennifer Harker (Dr. Nick Harker), Jessica Craig, Joanna Craig and Benjamin Barton; Great- Grandchildren Brooklyn, Hailey, Connor and Logan Henley and Alette and Grant Harker; Sister Barbara Smith.
Vi is preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Ida Mae Stiteler; brothers Harry and Tommy Stiteler; Sister Persianna Jackson and her brother -in-law Sammy Smith.
There will be a visitation on Friday November 12th, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located at 3125 N Lamar Blvd Austin, TX 78705. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 13th, at 10am, at Genesis Presbyterian Church located at 1507 Wilshire Blvd Austin, TX 78722, with a reception to follow at the church hall. Once the reception has concluded there will be a graveside service at Oak Hill Cemetery located in Smithville, TX.
In lieu of flowers, Vi would have loved donations to one of her three favorite charities Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Jude and Wounded Warrior Project.
