

Virgie Woodward, 87, passed away on April 27, 2010 in Austin Texas. She was born on January 13, 1923 in Clifton Texas to parents, Thomas and Rosa Turner. After graduating from Clifton High School, Virgie went to work for the State Comptroller’s Office. She worked for many years then took a six year break to marry and raise a family. Virgie went back to work for the State Comptroller’s Office, where she worked until her retirement in 1980. Upon retirement, Virgie and Woody loved to travel. They went on frequent cruises and toured the country in their motor home. Virgie was also an active participant in the Ladies Oriental Shrine – Ruh Neb Temple, the Daughters of the Nile, and the Crestview United Methodist Church in Austin. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 63 years, Woody Woodward, her son Don Woodward, and wife Donna of Georgia; grandson Brandon Woodward, and wife Bibi of Georgia; great-granddaughter Mackenzie Woodward; and Virgie’s sister Loyce Olson. The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 10:00 in the Colonial Chapel of the Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX.
