

Was born on May 6, 1936, in Sundown, Texas, to Margaret Ruth Aycock Greene and Virgil Greene, and passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Virginia loved life and faithfully served in her churches, teaching children, youth, and young adults. She was the regular host for Texas Tech and other college students at Quaker Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.
Virginia worked at the Dixie Dog Drive-In and at Litton Industries in Lubbock. While at Litton, she obtained her bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist College. After moving to the Austin, Texas area, she worked for Lockheed Martin and Applied Materials. While working at Lockheed, she earned her master’s degree from Embry-Riddle University.
She enjoyed a long retirement—gardening, serving through her church, and volunteering with the Special Olympics in the Austin area. Virginia loved her family deeply, as evidenced by the dozens of family pictures on her walls and refrigerator. She was always excited when family came to visit and when she could take part in their special life events. Her favorite family member was always “whichever one she was with,” and she made each feel especially loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Doyle Camp; her parents, Lonnie and Margaret Ruth Aycock Greene, and stepfather, J.D. Mims; her son, Donald Joe Camp; and her daughter, Ellen Yvonne Whitmire.
Survivors include her daughter-in-love Kimberly Kiplin, wife of Donald Joe, and their children Kathryn Camp, Patrick Camp, and Allison Camp; her son-in-love Kent Whitmire, husband of Ellen Yvonne, and their children Joshua George Whitmire and wife Anna, Matthew Kent Whitmire and wife Kaci, and Carla Ruth Nutt and husband Charles David, and their children Melissa Ruth Granger and husband Jimmy, Mary Ellen Lollar, and Vonda Jo Nutt. In addition, Virginia was blessed with twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends she dearly loved.
Family visitation will be Friday evening, October 24, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78752.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 25, at 10:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin, TX 78752, followed by interment at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin, TX 78749.
