Virginia Schneider Johnston

Virginia Schneider Johnston, known to her family and friends as “Billie”, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010. Born June 30, 1914 in Austin, Texas, Billie was a 4th generation Austinite who was the descendant of both John H. Robinson and John Bremond, two Austin pioneers.

After graduating from St. Mary’s Academy in Austin where she served as Valedictorian, Billie went on to graduate from the University of Texas. Following graduation she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service. In April of 1943 Billie married Dean Johnston and together they raised two daughters.

Billie was involved in a variety of community interests. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, Ladies of Charity of St. Vincent DePaul, a volunteer at Seton League House, a member of St. Ignatius Martyr Church and Queen of Angels Chapel, the Junior League of Austin and a founding member of the Rollingwood Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dean Johnston, parents Pauline Robinson and Leonard J. Schneider, children Dean and Deanna Johnston, and sisters Elizabeth Schneider Rogers and Dorothy Schneider Peters.

Billie is survived by daughters Ann Dolce and husband Leonard and Judy Hyatt and husband Andrew; grandchildren Christopher Dolce and wife Kacy, Jeffrey Dolce and wife Amy, Catherine Dolce Daboub and husband Keith, Christopher Hyatt all of Austin and Andrew James Hyatt and wife Julie of San Jose, California; and ten great grandchildren Charles Henry Dolce, Virginia Kathaleene Dolce, John Joseph Dolce, Mary Catherine Dolce, Madolyn Claire Dolce, Koke Levi Dolce, Johnston Ryan Daboub, Virginia Marie Daboub, Hana Catherine Daboub, and Andrew Joseph Hyatt.

A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2010 at Queen of Angels Chapel, 20600 Siesta Shores Drive, Spicewood, Texas.
