

Virginia Young Reynolds (92) of Austin, Texas, born February 14, 1919, formerly of Arlington, Virginia, passed away the morning of February 4, 2012 of natural causes. She is the daughter of Grace M. and Henry D. Young of Jonesboro, Texas, the fourth of five children.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 70 years, U.S. Marine Col. Walter E. Reynolds Jr.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Gayle Reynolds Cullington and husband, Dr. James R. Cullington, and Mrs. Alice Kaye (Bunny) Reynolds Barnard and husband, Mr. Herbert J. Barnard Jr., both of Austin, Texas; one son, John Young Reynolds and wife, Dawn Williams Reynolds of Auburn, Alabama; 7 grandchildren: Laura Cullington Christianson and husband, Trey Christianson, Heather Cullington Spencer and husband, David Spencer, Christopher Reynolds Barnard and wife, Vanesa Barnard, Bryan Joseph Barnard and wife, Sarah Barnard, Scott Michael Barnard and wife, Megan Barnard, Austin Wood Reynolds and Jackson Tyler Reynolds; 10 great grandchildren: Faith, Chase, and Loren Christianson, Nathan and Analiese Spencer, Aiden and Adrian Barnard, Avery and Evan Barnard, and Lillian Barnard; one surviving brother, Maurice (Pat) Young and wife, Henrietta Young of Jonesboro, Texas; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Reynolds was born on a ranch in central Texas. She accompanied her husband, Col. Walter Reynolds, on many military assignments including Hawaii, and they also traveled extensively after his military career. She served in various volunteer activities during her lifetime and for 35 years was a Real Estate agent in the Northern Virginia area. She was a member of Little Falls Presbyterian Church in Arlington, Virginia. She was a faithful volunteer at the Presbyterian Retirement Home in Washington, D.C. Later she was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, Austin, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Hope Presbyterian Church, 11512 Olson Drive, Austin, Texas 78750. A private interment at Arlington National Cemetery is pending.
