

Vivian Earlene High, 88, of Austin, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 25, 2020. Beloved wife of Ralph Jerry High. Loving mother of Mark (Nellome) High of Leander, Tx and Debbie (Frank) Edwards of Cedar Park, Tx. Grandmother of Brett (Barbara) Edwards of Houston, Tx , Josh (Jessica) Edwards of Leander, Tx and Alexandra High of College Station, Tx. Great grandmother to Bradley and Blake Edwards. Aunt to Alexandra Marshall of Millbrook, NY, Donna (John) Pugh of Murphysboro, Il and Donald (Kim) Garver of Ava, Il. Great Aunt to Matthew Pugh, Douglas (Amrita) Marshall, Mitchell (Aleisha) Garver and Katelyn Garver. Friend to many.
Vickie was born in Murphysboro, Illinois on June 9, 1931 to Sherman D. and Grace (Bryant) Reiman. Sisters Mae Smith, Irene Garver, Marie Redding and brothers Russell Reiman and Harold Thomas all preceded her in death.
She was born during the Great Depression and at the age of two, her mother died leaving her father to raise 5 children on their family farm. She grew up on the farm and finished high school. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee and worked for a roofing company. At age 22 she went for a girl’s night out and met a handsome young Air Force officer named Jerry High who was fresh out of the Naval Academy and after a two-year courtship they were married.
Vickie spent 24 years as an Air Force wife living in over six states and one country in Europe. She was active in the National Red Cross Association and President of the Officer’s Wives Club (OWC). After Jerry retired, they moved to Texas and made Austin their home. As a registered Dietician, she began working as a food service manager in the Austin School District. She retired from AISD after 25 years of service.
Vickie was also active in her church at Grace Community Bible Church where she faithfully attended for over 42 years. She and Jerry had a heart for missions supporting missionaries from all over the world. Vickie enjoyed gardening, baking, arts and crafts, serving and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also known for making an average of 1000 cookies each year for family and friends at Christmas plus many more for church events. She will be greatly missed, never forgotten and always loved.
