Vivian Lurlean Oswalt Miller The most important things in Lurleans life were her faith, her family and her community. She incorporated her belief in Christ into her daily life and shared her belief with family, friends, and members of the Bergstrom Air Force Base Chapel, which she attended for many years. She worked to support her family during the Depression, and later devoted herself to her husband and children, stressing the importance of education, self-reliance and hard work, but celebrating birthdays with enchanting parties. An air Force wife, she fed home-cooked meals to airmen who were away from home. Neighbors and acquaintances benefited from countless acts of kindness, and visitors were always offered a glass of fresh-brewed iced tea. We cherish her grace, courage and dignity: her devoted husband of 58 years, Wilson Larkin Miller; daughter Vivian M. Miller and husband James Boylan; son Gary Miller; daughter Deborah Bates and husband Bill; granddaughters Valerie and Madeleine Bates; sisters, Hortense Fleming and Darlene Westberg; brothers Avery Oswalt and wife Joy; Joe Oswalt and wife Linda; David Oswalt and wife Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the love and generous spirit of Jonell Speak, Dana Hawkins, Rev. Floyd Vick, Danny Campos, Tad and Phyllis Tadlock, Norm and Eloise Schrader, Harold and Jessie Fagg, Charlie and Clela Page, James and Janie Barth, Hank and Betty Polastry, Martha Pouse, Dr. Thomas Tucker and nurse Alisa, the staff of angels at the Allan Shivers Radiation Center, Dr. Richard Sperling, Dr. Joseph Mangione, and Pharmacists Tom McPherson and Charles Ryan. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 27, 2004, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home, Center, Texas. Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery in Huxley, Texas. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home with Reverend Floyd Vick officiating.
