

Wallace Edward Wally Winslow, age 54, of Austin died unexpectedly while jogging on Wednesday, January 21, 2004. Wally was born in Oak Park, Illinois on June 19, 1949. He grew up in Melrose Park and graduated high school an all-state football star. He went on to play football at the United States Naval Academy, where he was a 1971 graduate. He earned his Masters Degree from USC. Wally served 7 years in the United States Marine Corps and flew CH-46 Helicopters. Following a 17-year career in Corporate Marketing, he followed his entrepreneurial spirit and started his own business in Austin. A self proclaimed amateur restaurant critic, he enjoyed chess, opera, running, reading, military history, football and his role as doting father to his three beautiful daughters. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Edward Winslow, Sr. Wally is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen Lee Winslow; his daughters, Shannon, Lauren and Erin; his mother Marge Winslow and brother Steve Winslow of Chicago, IL; his best friend and brother-in-law, Dan Nelson; nieces and nephews and countless family and friends. The family will be receiving friends at their home. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, January 26, 2004 at the Smith Chapel at Riverbend Church. A reception following the service to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wally Winslow Scholarship Fund at Bank of America.
