Warren Eugene Ritchie, 76, of Dripping Springs, TX, passed away on January 3, 2026, after a months-long battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Born on November 6, 1949, in Austin, TX, to Billie Harrell Ritchie and Margaret Ischy Ritchie, he was a devoted husband to Susan (Susie) Tolliver Ritchie for 55 years, and a loving father to Ben Ritchie and Scott Ritchie.
In his early life, he grew up in the Tarrytown area, graduated from Austin High School, and attended Southwest Texas State University. He met Susie at Handy Andy Supermarkets, where they both worked, and they were married on December 24, 1970. In the early 1970s, he was in the Texas National Guard, where he refueled helicopters.
Warren was hard-working and dedicated. He spent most of his career working at Lone Star Paper/Butler Paper/Unisource, after which he acquired a brokerage company and fulfilled a lifelong goal of owning his own business. Even after he sold his business, he continued to work part-time to mentor others and help the company maintain continuity. Throughout his career, he was known as a terrific manager and mentor.
Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions. He encouraged his sons to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout and was very involved throughout their time in the Boy Scouts by attending many of the campouts and meetings. His strong work ethic was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on them that will never fade.
He was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Warren's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed serving others in the church, often spending his weekends helping others with yard work and home improvement projects.
He is survived by his wife, Susan (Susie) Ritchie, his son Ben Ritchie (grandchildren Annabelle, Colton, and Levi), his son Scott Ritchie (grandchildren Hope and Rocco), as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. Warren was preceded in death by his parents and sister (Joyce Garner).
The visitation will be from 6-8 pm on January 14, 2025, and the funeral service will be held at 11 am on January 15, 2025, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park at 6300 W. William Cannon Dr, Austin, TX 78749 - interment to follow at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society, The Ronald McDonald House, or The First Baptist Church in Dripping Springs.
We find comfort in knowing that Warren's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
