She loved spending time with her aunts, uncles, cousins and great grandmothers. Family was a very important part of her life. As a young girl, Wendy was able to empathize and identify with a vast array of people and personality types. This quality led her to a diverse group of friends and acquaintances.
Wendy played softball, volleyball, and enjoyed gymnastics. She represented Tivy High School at the Texas State Track and Field Meet and competed in shot put and discus. Her favorite teacher was Mrs. Furstenfeld. They later reconnected and remained friends. Classmates considered Wendy a good listener, knowing that when necessary, they could go to her to discuss just about anything. She was a Brownie and a Girl Scout. When she was young she could not wait to learn how to drive. She loved fishing and going to the beach and cooking. Wendy's ever-present concern for friends, family and animals always took precedent. She cherished her pets. Lady Bug and her puppy Gus, both beautiful, loving Black Cocker Spaniels, were her fur babies.
Always at the ready with a good joke, she grew up to be a humorous person. While some who knew Wendy might describe her as an idealist, her friends and family understood well that she was always in pursuit of life’s endless possibilities and opportunities available to her.
Wendy extended her education by earning her Certified Nurse’s Assistant license and was a certified Phlebotomist. She had a big heart and loved caring for others. She always seemed aware of what was going on with people around her and throughout her life she made many, many friends. She was active in an animal rescue program. She was compassionate, accommodating and quick to move into action. She was always the person working to get things done.
As a woman who was dedicated and devoted to her faith, she was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Houston Texas, Notre Dame Catholic Parish in Kerrville, Texas and Bay Area Fellowship in Corpus Christi, Texas. She loved the Lord and reflected this to those around her. She was able to empathize with others using these qualities to the fullest while working tirelessly for her beliefs.
